Exotics Veterinarian

Exotic Pet Vets

Date: 3 weeks ago
City: Mesa, AZ
Contract type: Full time

Practice specialist-level exotic medicine with the diagnostic tools to match. At Exotic Pet Vets, the largest privately owned veterinary group in North America focused exclusively on exotic pets; you'll have in-house CT, digital radiology, and full lab work, plus a highly trained support team. You'll see avians, small mammals, reptiles, aquatics, and some wildlife. You'll have the opportunity to work with and mentor interns, residents, and student externs.

Choose Your Location

Mesa/Phoenix, AZ: Our Mesa/Phoenix hospital has five exam rooms and a team of six doctors, five of them specialists, so you'll always have a colleague down the hall for a second opinion. Your caseload will be evenly balanced across small mammals, avians, and reptiles (roughly 30% each), with the remainder made up of aquatics and other species. We also partner with Arizona Game and Fish, local wildlife rehabilitators, and small local zoos, treating in-hospital patients as well as providing on-site care.

Outside of work, enjoy 300 days of sunshine, a skyline framed by rugged mountains, and fiery desert sunsets.

Portland, OR: In December 2025, our Portland hospital moved into a newly remodeled clinic with four exam rooms and a close-knit team of two doctors. With an established practice in a fresh, modern setting and plans to add more doctors, you'll have real influence over cases, scheduling, and you'll help shape the team as it grows. Your caseload will primarily consist of small mammals and avians, with reptiles making up the third-largest share, plus aquatics, wildlife, and other species. You'll also have the backing of the wider Exotic Pet Vets network, including company-wide educational rounds and board-certified colleagues at our other hospitals to consult on cases.

Outside of work, you'll find a cosmopolitan city surrounded by natural beauty, with a lifestyle shaped by creativity, sustainability, and community.
