Veterinarian

We are working on behalf of a well-established, privately owned small animal hospital in Burbank, CA that is looking to welcome an experienced Associate Veterinarian to its six-doctor team.

Owned by two veterinarians, this practice has stayed independent, and it shows: low turnover, a stable and well-supported team, and a culture where doctors genuinely consult with and scrub in alongside one another.

The hospital is appointment-based with 30-minute consults, giving you real time to connect with clients and practice thorough, high-quality general medicine. This full-time role includes a dedicated surgery day, with a caseload spanning spays and neuters, dentistry and extractions, and soft tissue procedures such as gastropexies, PUs, and anastomoses. A highly skilled surgeon on the team provides hands-on mentorship, and paid training, including wet labs, is available to help you build independence in more advanced procedures.

Full-time here means 28 patient care hours, typically worked across around 3.5 days per week with some Saturday rotation, and the schedule is genuinely flexible. Prefer longer days and more days off? A long lunch? Front-loaded mornings? It can be shaped around you. A 32 patient care hour option is also available at a higher base.

With a cross-trained technician team, a fear-free approach, and no ER or on-call expectations, this is a role built for an experienced GP who enjoys surgery and dentistry and wants a week that is sustainable for the long run.

About You

• DVM or equivalent degree that allows you to practice veterinary medicine in the US
• You hold, or are eligible for, licensure in California
• Several years of small animal GP experience (the team is not hiring new graduates at this time)
• Confident with dentistry, including dentals and extractions
• Comfortable with routine soft tissue surgery and keen to grow your surgical independence
• Strong communicator who enjoys client education
• Collaborative team player aligned with a fear-free, low-stress approach

Benefits

• $180,000 base for 28 patient care hours, or $200,000 base for 32 patient care hours
• 22% production on revenue above base, with no negative accrual
• Four weeks paid vacation plus five sick days
