APM Terminals

We Are APM Terminals

At APM Terminals, a global leader in port and terminal operations, we enable global trade and drive sustainable growth. What drives us forward is a mindset of always improving, observing how work happens, identifying what creates value, and removing what gets in the way. We constantly look for smarter, simpler, and safer ways of operating. If you thrive in environments where people value learning and are committed to continuously improve daily operations, join us and be a part of our journey.

This role will be closely connected to APM Terminals Elizabeth, one of the most important container terminals in the Port of New York and New Jersey and a critical gateway for US supply chains. Following the extension of the terminal lease through 2062, APM Terminals is moving into an exciting period of major capital investment focused on modernizing the terminal, improving capacity and flow, electrifying equipment, optimizing the terminal layout, and future-proofing berths for the next generation of vessels. For a Recruiter, this creates a rare opportunity to support a live infrastructure transformation program, helping attract the specialist engineering, project, HSSE, asset management, and construction talent needed to deliver long-term operational impact.

What We Can Offer

At APM Terminals, we foster a dynamic learning and training culture that empowers our employees to excel. Our commitment to improvement is driven by Lean principles, ensuring that every team member has the opportunity to develop their skills and advance their careers. Experience a diverse, multinational workplace where your operational insights directly influence how we work.

For this engagement, we offer:

  • A defined, high-impact 12-month consultancy embedded within the Port Elizabeth Upgrade Program, one of the most significant capex investments in the US port sector following our 33-year lease extension through 2062.
  • Direct access to Project Execution leadership, the Talent Acquisition Business Partner community, and the global APMT TAA function.
  • The opportunity to design and leave behind durable sourcing playbooks, market maps, and community networks that outlast the contract.
  • Opportunity to work with Lean Manufacturing Principals and learn the methodology by working in it, and also attending free internal trainings.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary sourcing expert supporting the Port Elizabeth Upgrade Program's critical hiring needs across Asset Management, Civil and Structural Engineering, HSSE, Project Controls, Cost Engineering, Marine/Berth Engineering, Electrification, Construction Management, and Project Management.
  • Build and maintain comprehensive talent market maps across the United States, identifying high-potential professionals, target companies, competitor landscapes, organizational structures, and emerging talent pools within heavy infrastructure, ports, transportation, EPC/EPCM, energy, utilities, rail, and construction sectors.
  • Develop and execute advanced sourcing strategies utilizing LinkedIn Recruiter, Boolean search methodologies, X-ray techniques, talent intelligence platforms, industry databases, and professional networks to identify passive and hard-to-reach talent.
  • Create and nurture talent communities and candidate pipelines for both current and future hiring needs, ensuring sustainable access to specialized technical talent.
  • Establish relationships with niche professional organizations, industry associations, and affinity groups including ASCE, AAPA, AACE, PMI, ASSP, NAEM, Women in Construction, Women in Engineering, and other relevant talent communities.
  • Conduct talent landscape research, salary benchmarking, competitor intelligence, and workforce market analysis to support workforce planning and hiring strategy discussions.
  • Partner closely with the Lead Recruitment Partner, hiring managers, and project leadership by providing sourcing insights, talent market intelligence, pipeline health reporting, and recommended sourcing approaches.
  • Generate diverse candidate pipelines and longlists, ensuring inclusive sourcing practices and broad representation across engineering, construction, and infrastructure talent markets.
  • Maintain accurate sourcing activity, candidate engagement data, market insights, and pipeline reporting within Workday and other talent systems.
  • Create and document sourcing playbooks, talent maps, target-company research, market insights, and engagement strategies that can be leveraged by the broader Talent Acquisition function beyond the duration of the engagement.

What We Are Looking For

Continuous improvement mindset: we are looking for someone who brings a thoughtful improvement mindset, curious about how work gets done and motivated to make meaningful, sustainable improvements over time.

  • Continuous improvement mindset with genuine curiosity for understanding talent markets, sourcing effectiveness, and opportunities to improve how talent is identified and engaged.
  • Minimum 8+ years of experience in talent sourcing, executive search, recruitment research, talent intelligence, or technical recruiting, with a strong focus on proactive sourcing for highly specialized roles.
  • Demonstrated success identifying and engaging passive candidates within heavy infrastructure, engineering, construction, capital projects, ports/terminals, energy, manufacturing, transportation, or industrial sectors.
  • Expert-level capability with LinkedIn Recruiter, advanced Boolean search, X-ray sourcing, talent intelligence methodologies, and market mapping techniques.
  • Proven experience building comprehensive talent maps, succession pipelines, competitor analyses, and long-term sourcing strategies for niche skill sets.
  • Strong understanding of engineering and project delivery disciplines, with the ability to credibly engage and assess technical talent markets.
  • Experience leveraging talent market data, compensation trends, and competitor intelligence to influence sourcing and workforce planning strategies.
  • Proficiency in Workday or comparable ATS/CRM platforms, including candidate relationship management, talent pooling, and sourcing analytics.
  • Self-directed and highly organized, with the ability to independently manage multiple talent pipelines, market research initiatives, and sourcing projects in a fast-paced consulting environment.
  • Strong relationship-building and networking skills with a demonstrated ability to generate referrals, grow talent communities, and develop long-term candidate engagement strategies.
