Commercial Sales Estimator
Pro Paint Solutions
Looking for a company where your work truly matters? At Pro Paint Solutions, we’re building a reputation for quality, reliability, and exceptional service in the commercial painting industry. We believe great projects start with great people, and we’re looking for an experienced, relationship-focused Commercial Sales Estimator to help grow our customer base, prepare accurate proposals, and support successful commercial painting projects from bid to closeout.
About the Role
The Commercial Sales Estimator is responsible for developing new business, building customer relationships, and preparing accurate proposals for commercial painting opportunities. This position is focused on the sales and estimating side of the work—identifying opportunities, understanding customer needs, pricing projects, and helping win profitable jobs. Once a job moves into production, the estimator remains involved in tracking costs related to change orders and staying informed on financial impacts, but does not own the day-to-day project management details.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and manage relationships with commercial property managers, general contractors, owners, and other commercial clients while identifying and pursuing new business opportunities.
- Evaluate customer requirements and prepare accurate proposals for commercial painting projects, including repainting, interior and exterior work, and tenant improvements.
- Estimate labor, materials, equipment, subcontractor support, and other project costs while considering jobsite conditions, application methods, access, scheduling, overtime, and company workload.
- Maintain awareness of material costs, internal labor costs, and required profit margins to support accurate pricing and profitable proposals.
- Track proposal activity, follow up with customers, update proposal status for sales meetings, and gather feedback on lost bids when available.
- Negotiate awarded proposals, review customer contracts, and prepare clear work orders that communicate project requirements to Project Managers and production teams.
- Visit job sites with Project Managers and customers as needed, communicate job updates, and prepare change orders when project requirements change.
- Support billing and closeout by pricing time-and-material work, reviewing invoices for accuracy, monitoring overdue invoices, preparing warranties, and submitting job-related expenses.
- Review completed job performance, customer profitability, job margins, job volume, and work mix between general contractors and owners/property managers with management.
About You
- You combine strong estimating skills with customer follow-up, sales initiative, and attention to profitability, scheduling, and project communication.
- You are relationship-focused and comfortable building trust with commercial property managers, general contractors, owners, and other clients.
- You are self-motivated, driven, and resilient, with the ability to respond constructively to feedback and setbacks.
- You communicate clearly, network naturally, and can connect with different types of people while anticipating customer needs.
Qualifications
- At least 5 years of experience in commercial construction, commercial property management, or a related trade.
- Experience estimating commercial projects.
- Demonstrated ability to prospect for and develop new customer relationships.
