Plant Modeling Engineer

Location: Warren, MI (Onsite)

We are seeking an experienced Plant Modeling Lead Engineer with a strong background in 12V/48V electrical systems, electrical simulation, and analytical modeling. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with MATLAB, Simulink, Simscape, Synopsys Saber, and Software-in-the-Loop (SiL) simulations.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and validate analytical models for 12V/48V electrical systems and components.
• Perform electrical system design, analysis, and testing to support component sizing and system-level requirements.
• Develop and execute Software-in-the-Loop (SiL) simulation models.
• Use Synopsys Saber and the MAST modeling language for electrical system simulation and analysis.
• Develop and integrate Functional Mockup Units (FMUs) and support co-simulation activities.
• Conduct simulations for charge balance, fail-operational behavior, bus integrity, short circuits, and other 12V/48V component-sizing requirements.
• Apply engineering principles in circuit analysis, electronics, electromagnetics, electric drive systems, control systems, and digital signal processing.
• Develop analytical models for electric generators, batteries, heating and cooling systems, lighting systems, and electronic controllers.
• Analyze simulation results, troubleshoot model behavior, and recommend improvements to system performance and reliability.
• Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to support system integration, verification, and validation activities.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Controls Engineering, or a related field.
• 5+ years of engineering experience in the design, analysis, or testing of 12V/48V electrical systems or components.
• Proficiency in MATLAB, Simulink, and Simscape.
• Experience with Synopsys Saber simulator and MAST modeling language.
• Hands-on experience developing models for Software-in-the-Loop (SiL) simulations.
• Knowledge of Functional Mockup Units (FMUs) and co-simulation.
• Experience with charge balance, fail-operational, bus integrity, short-circuit, and 12V/48V component-sizing simulations.
• Strong understanding of electrical circuits, electronics, electromagnetics, electric drive systems, control systems, and digital signal processing.
• Experience with analytical modeling of electrical and electronic systems, including generators, batteries, thermal systems, lighting, and electronic controllers.
