Role Overview

The Grants Specialist will manage the full grants lifecycle for A&O's client partners, from identifying funding opportunities and developing competitive proposals to ensuring post-award compliance and reporting. This role works across federal, state, and private foundation funding streams, supporting a diverse portfolio of nonprofit and faith-based organizations. The ideal candidate is a detail-oriented professional who can balance multiple client deadlines, communicate complex ideas clearly in writing, and collaborate with both internal team members and client stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Research and identify grant funding opportunities aligned with client missions and organizational goals
  • Write, edit, and submit grant proposals and applications on behalf of client partners
  • Manage grant calendars, deadlines, and deliverables across multiple client engagements
  • Ensure compliance with funder requirements, including federal regulations (2 CFR 200, OMB guidelines)
  • Prepare and submit progress reports, financial reports, and closeout documents
  • Coordinate with clients and team members to gather programmatic data and supporting materials
  • Maintain organized records of all grant activity and correspondence
  • Monitor policy changes and trends in the grants landscape

    Qualifications

    • 2+ years of experience in grant writing, grants management, or a related role
    • Demonstrated success in securing grant awards from federal, state, or private funders
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills
    • Familiarity with federal grants systems such as Grants.gov, SAM.gov, and eRA Commons
    • Experience with grant tracking tools or project management software
    • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines
    • High attention to detail and accuracy

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Experience with federal compliance and reporting requirements
    • Grant Professional Certified (GPC) credential or willingness to obtain
    • Background working with nonprofit organizations, churches, or faith-based ministries
    • Passion for mission-driven work and community impact
