Farm & Agribusiness Assistant

Mid-West Family Madison seeks a motivated radio broadcaster and reporter for the growing Mid-West Farm Report Radio Network. This opportunity is for someone passionate about agriculture, reporting news, producing creative audio and visual show elements, and growing our statewide farm network.

• Conduct interviews to produce audio or visual news packages or podcasts
• Edit audio packages and clips for the Mid-West Farm Report 5-6 show across 16 affiliate stations, The Farm radio stations in Madison and Eau Claire, and 137 market and news reports that air across 32 affiliate stations
• Write articles for our daily e-newsletter
• Strategically promote stories and other activities across our social media platforms
• Work with clients to produce podcasts, commercials, blogs, remotes, and other opportunities
• Travel to various conferences to cover news stories and engage with our audience
• Create production elements, such as entertaining liners or motivating promotional spots

REQUIREMENTS

An ideal candidate will have hands-on knowledge of agribusiness and can relate to the needs of rural communities and businesses that service agriculture. Like anything related to farming, a strong work ethic is a must.

Candidates with journalistic, on-air, or promotions experience are preferred, but not required. Due to the nature of the position, a flexible schedule will be required.

We seek a creative and imaginative person with good communication and organizational skills. The ability to meet deadlines and handle multiple projects is critical. You must also be well-versed in social media platforms to help grow our presence. An ideal candidate will also work with sales to develop unique strategies to both serve clients and grow our reach.
