Summary
At Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center, every patient interaction matters. As a Patient Access Team Lead, you will play an important role in helping patients navigate their care journey with compassion, accuracy, and efficiency from the very first point of contact.
In this role, you will help coordinate the process of scheduling appointments, supporting admissions, communicating with care teams, and ensuring patients receive the information and support they need before coming to Roswell Park. You’ll also serve as a mentor and resource for Patient Access team members, helping create a positive and collaborative environment focused on exceptional patient care.

The starting annual salary for this position is $59,994 and this can include a full comprehensive benefits package.
What You’ll Do:
Support the smooth and timely entry of patients into diagnostic and treatment services across Roswell Park
Coordinate patient scheduling, admissions, referrals, and pre-visit testing
Serve as a team lead for Patient Access staff by helping prioritize work, training team members, and ensuring daily tasks are completed accurately and efficiently
Communicate with patients, physicians, and clinical teams to coordinate care needs and appointment logistics
Gather and review patient information to support access and insurance clearance processes
Help patients understand appointment expectations, financial responsibilities, and available support resources
Participate in Admission, Discharge, and Transfer (ADT) activities as needed
Attend multidisciplinary care team meetings and share important updates with access and clinical teams
Support a welcoming, patient-centered experience while maintaining confidentiality and professionalism
What You’ll Bring:
Experience in patient access, healthcare scheduling, medical administration, or a related healthcare support role
Strong communication and customer service skills with a compassionate, patient-first approach
Ability to manage multiple priorities and stay organized in a fast-paced healthcare environment
Experience coordinating schedules, referrals, insurance verification, or admissions processes preferred
Confidence leading workflows, supporting teammates, and helping train staff
Attention to detail and ability to handle sensitive information accurately and professionally
Comfort working collaboratively with clinical teams, providers, and external partners
A positive attitude and commitment to delivering an excellent patient experience

Qualifications
Required Education and Experience
1. Bachelor’s degree and the equivalent of two (2) years of full-time experience in an ambulatory or outpatient clinic, healthcare business office or patient access type of environment; or
2. Associate’s degree and the equivalent of four (4) years of full-time experience in an ambulatory or outpatient clinic, healthcare business office or patient access type of environment; or
3. High School Diploma or High School Equivalency Diploma and the equivalent of six (6) years of full-time experience in an ambulatory or outpatient clinic, healthcare business office or patient access type of environment; or
4. High School Diploma or High School Equivalency Diploma and the equivalent of four (4) years of full-time experience within the Patient Access Department at Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center.
Degrees must be conferred by an accredited school, college, or university, or by an institution recognized by Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center and/or Health Research Incorporated as adhering to acceptable educational standards.
