Hours: 40 hours per week with occasional evening and weekend shifts. Work schedule option:

  • Monday - Friday, 8:00 am to 4:30 pm or 8:30 am to 5:00 pm OR
  • Monday - Thursday, 8:00 am to 5:30 pm (9 hours) and Friday, 8:30 am to 4:30 pm (8 hours), off every other Friday

Pay Rate: $28.85 to $29.13 per hour

Education: High School diploma with at least 1 year of related experience required. Bachelor’s degree is strongly preferred.

As a Housing Specialist, you will

Primarily work with the ICM (Intensive Case Management) clients at all ACT programs. Duties include:

  • Assist clients in obtaining housing upon enrollment into the program
  • Support clients to get onto permanent housing lists and provides housing skills training to ensure clients achieve an optimal level of health and functioning within the community
  • Support Housing First guidelines by providing training to staff and community members
  • Help arrange moves to housing across the continuum of care such as ILFs, Board and Cares or apartments.
  • Maintain relationships with housing managers and property management to help support both them and the client in maintaining successful housing.
  • Work collaboratively with all other members of the community to maximize successful client housing placement
  • Provide general case management to clients as needed.

Additional Qualifications and Skills

  • 2+ years of housing specialist experience preferred
  • Knowledge of Housing First model is strongly preferred
  • Previous experience in a mental health experience strongly preferred
  • This program is housed in a two-story building that does have an elevator; however, ability to navigate stairs may be required
  • Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office to include Outlook, Word, Excel applications, as well as internet research skills required
  • A valid California driver’s license in good standing, personal vehicle, proof of insurance and eligibility to be an approved CRF driver is required to fulfill the essential functions of this position
  • Must be able to pass criminal/background clearance

Our Intensive Mobile Psychosocial Assertive Community Treatment programs (Downtown IMPACT, IMPACT, Senior IMPACT and South Bay IMPACT) provide intensive, community-based case management services for homeless adults throughout San Diego County. We deliver fully integrated services to clients diagnosed with a serious mental illness, as well as individuals with co-occurring, mental health, and substance disorders.

Our programs utilizes the evidence-based practice of Assertive Community Treatment (ACT) to support our clients in the higher level of community care and to assist them in reaching their goals and living a life not dominated by mental illness. Our team is a model of care, providing treatment, rehabilitation, and case management supports.
