Position Description
The Accounting Manager is a foundational role that will shape how Love Columbia stewards its resources in support of its mission. As the organization's first internal full-time accounting leader, this person will own day-to-day financial operations, strengthen existing systems, and build infrastructure to support a growing team. The ideal candidate brings financial rigor, mission alignment, and a collaborative approach to working across programs, leadership, and external partners.

Basic Duties
· Oversee daily accounting operations, including accounts payable, cash reconciliation, and general ledger maintenance across all funds and programs.
· Manage payroll support, benefits allocations, and monthly close, including financial statements and board reports.
· Track and report on restricted funds and grants, ensuring alignment between program activity and the general ledger.
· Coordinate the annual audit and 990 filing; maintain depreciation schedules, fixed assets, and insurance allocations.
· Maintain a rolling financial model to support leadership's understanding of capital adequacy and organizational sustainability.
· Supervise and develop the Financial Coordinator; serve as a collaborative partner to the Associate Executive Director and program leadership on financial matters.
These duties are representative, but not all inclusive. Other duties may be assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
· Technical Expertise: Strong command of GAAP, fund accounting, and nonprofit financial reporting.
· Systems Proficiency: Experienced with QuickBooks Online and payroll platforms; able to build efficient workflows.
· Mission Alignment: Brings integrity and care to financial stewardship in a values-driven environment.
· Collaborative Communicator: Comfortable working across teams and partnering with external CPAs and auditors.
· Self-Directed: Proactively builds processes where none exist and continuously upgrades technical knowledge.
Relevant Education, Certification, and Experience
· Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required.
· 5+ years of progressive accounting experience; public accounting background or experience working alongside 2+ controllers strongly preferred.
· Experience with QuickBooks Online or Enterprise Resource Planning software required.
· Nonprofit accounting experience preferred; grant tracking, restricted fund management, or job-cost/WIP experience transfers well.
Work Environment
This position operates in a professional office environment. Must be able to remain stationary for extended periods, operate standard office equipment, communicate clearly in written and spoken formats, and occasionally lift up to 15 pounds. Compensation and Benefits
This is a full-time, exempt, benefits-eligible position. Compensation is commensurate with experience.
