Laboratory Director

Principal Healthcare Solutions has partnered we a healthcare organization who is seeking an experienced Laboratory Director to lead daily laboratory operations and ensure high standards of quality, compliance, and patient care. This leadership role is responsible for overseeing laboratory services, staff management, regulatory compliance, quality assurance initiatives, and operational performance.

Responsibilities
- Oversee all laboratory operations and ensure compliance with applicable regulatory and accreditation standards
- Establish, implement, and maintain quality assurance and quality control programs
- Supervise laboratory staff including hiring, onboarding, scheduling, training, evaluations, coaching, and disciplinary actions
- Ensure staff maintain required competencies and continuing education requirements
- Coordinate staff education, in-services, and orientation programs
- Maintain accurate personnel, operational, and patient records in accordance with organizational policies and regulatory requirements
- Assist with departmental budgeting, supply management, equipment planning, and cost-containment initiatives
- Evaluate and recommend capital equipment purchases and long-term operational improvements
- Support laboratory workflow and assist in technical operations as needed, including phlebotomy
- Ensure testing procedures are performed accurately across multiple levels of complexity
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Clinical Laboratory Science or a related scientific field from an accredited institution
- ASCP or AMT certification required, or eligibility to obtain certification
- Current BLS certification required
- Previous laboratory leadership or supervisory experience preferred
- Strong knowledge of laboratory regulatory standards, quality systems, and operational management
- Ability to lead teams effectively in a fast-paced healthcare environment
