The Opportunity
Huxley & Kent is seeking an experienced Sr Vice President of Sales to lead the company’s next stage of growth.
This is a senior leadership role for someone who can develop strategy and personally help win business. The Sr Vice President of Sales will own all top line revenue, lead the sales team, strengthen current customer relationships, open new doors, oversee marketing initiatives and build a qualified pipeline across multiple channels.
This person will have a seat on the EOS Leadership Team and will be accountable for delivering the
company’s annual sales plan.
Key Responsibilities
• Own the company’s total revenue plan and sales forecast
• Develop and execute a multichannel growth strategy including B2B and B2C sales
• Lead, coach, and hold accountable the internal sales team, independent representatives, and distributor partners
• Personally lead major account development, presentations, negotiations, and annual business reviews
• Grow existing business with Amazon, Chewy, independent pet retailers, key accounts, major accounts, and domestic distributors
• Build new business across pet specialty, private label, hardware, lawn and garden, gift, grocery, FDM, mass retail, and ecommerce
• Develop opportunities with Costco and other high volume retailers
• Expand sales through Canadian, European, South American, and Far East distributors
- Build account plans for key, major, and strategic customers
- Maintain a qualified sales pipeline with revenue potential, probability, timing, next steps, and ownership
• Establish reliable weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual sales forecasts
• Create recovery plans when sales are below budget
• Work closely with Product Development, Marketing, Operations, and Finance to ensure sales opportunities
are profitable and executable
• Evaluate opportunities based on revenue, gross profit, inventory requirements, cash flow, operational
demands, and long term potential
• Participate in weekly EOS Level 10 Meetings, quarterly planning sessions, and annual planning
• Travel to customer meetings, trade shows, sales events, and company meetings as required
What Success Looks Like
• H&K achieves or exceeds its annual sales and gross profit goals
• Amazon returns to sustainable and profitable growth
• Chewy becomes a larger and more productive account
• Independent retailer sales and active account count increase
• Existing major accounts expand their assortments and volume per door
• New key and strategic accounts are opened
• Distribution sales increase significantly
• Private label becomes a profitable and repeatable business
• H&K establishes productive international distribution relationships
• The Leadership Team receives an accurate forward sales forecast and a credible pipeline
Qualifications
• Senior sales leadership experience in consumer products
• A demonstrated record of growing revenue and opening major retail accounts
• Experience managing sales teams, independent representatives, brokers, or distributors
• Strong relationships with retail buyers are highly desirable
- Pet industry experience is preferred
- Experience with Amazon, Chewy, major retail, private label, distribution, ecommerce, or international sales is valuable
• Strong forecasting, pipeline management, negotiation, and account planning skills
• Understanding of gross margin, promotional allowances, commissions, freight, inventory, and customer profitability
• Ability to move comfortably between strategy and hands on sales execution
• Clear, direct, and professional communication skills
• Willingness to travel to customer meetings, trade shows, and quarterly company meetings
Compensation and Benefits
This is a full time employee position with a salary and commission structure, both to be determined based on experience.
