Substitute Teacher

Saint Matthew’s School in Virginia Beach, VA is currently seeking Substitute Teachers. The

Substitute Teacher supports the school by helping to create a caring and safe environment for the

children and executing lesson plans to maintain the overall care and quality of education in the

teacher's absence. S/he must be able to communicate, listen, and work well with others in a team

environment. The successful candidate must be an enthusiastic role model who is passionate

about sharing the Catholic faith.

Responsibilities:

• Implementing the daily program and lesson plans left by the permanent teacher.
• Treating each child with dignity and respect.
• Recognizing and considering the individual needs of each child.
• Helping children to learn and think creatively to solve problems.
• Supervising the classroom and managing student behavior effectively.
• Fulfilling the role of the teacher in his/her absence.
• Maintaining a clean, organized, and respectful classroom environment.

Professional Qualifications/Experience Required:

• High energy.

• Ability to work well with others.

• Strong oral and written communication skills and basic computer skills.

• An understanding of child development.

• Excellent leadership, organizational, and interpersonal skills.

• High school diploma (or equivalent) and be at least 18 years of age.
