Assistant Director, Fan Experience

The Assistant Director, Fan Experience is responsible for the planning, execution, and continuous improvement of in-venue game presentation and fan experience for assigned varsity sports within Pitt Athletics. This role is focused on delivering an engaging, high-energy, and cohesive game day atmosphere that enhances the overall fan experience and drives home-field and home-court advantage.

Primary responsibilities include developing and executing detailed game scripts and run-of-show timelines; coordinating videoboard content, music, and in-game elements; managing sponsor-related in-game inventory; and supervising game day staff and student workers. This position plays a key role in ideating and executing creative elements across highly visible moments, including pregame, in-game breaks, timeouts, and other fan-facing activations.

The Assistant Director will collaborate closely with Fan Experience leadership, creative/video teams, and external partners to ensure seamless execution and alignment with departmental standards.

Additionally, this role will support grassroots outreach efforts, including on-campus and in-community activations, to drive awareness and attendance for assigned sports.

This position will also assist with game day fan experience operations for football and men’s basketball, as well as other duties as assigned.

Job Summary

Develops routine web and print content and marketing. Creates varied presentations for communications team and marketing materials for marketing team. Ensures consistent messaging and maintains University brand and style.

Essential Functions

  • Plan, develop, and execute all in-venue game presentation elements for assigned sports, including detailed scripts, run-of-show timelines, and coordination of all in-game elements.
  • Manage and execute videoboard content, music, promotions, and on-field/on-court activations to create an engaging and cohesive fan experience.
  • Collaborate with creative, video production, and operations teams to ideate and implement high-impact moments across pregame, in-game breaks, timeouts, and other key fan touchpoints.
  • Oversee and execute sponsor-related in-game inventory, ensuring accurate fulfillment and seamless integration into the game presentation.
  • Supervise, train, and manage game day staff and student workers to ensure efficient and high-quality execution of all fan experience elements.
  • Assist in the execution of fan experience operations for football and men’s basketball in addition to assigned sports, including support of game presentation and in-venue entertainment.
  • Support grassroots outreach efforts, including on-campus and in-community activations, to drive awareness and attendance for assigned sports.
  • Coordinate and execute special events and fan-facing activations tied to assigned sports.
  • Evaluate game presentation effectiveness and provide recommendations to enhance the in-venue experience and atmosphere.

Perform other duties related to fan experience and game presentation as assigned.

Physical Effort

Computer work, ability to travel and attend meetings on and off campus. The individual will be required to stand and walk for long periods of time at events and games.
