The Childhood Education Director provides leadership for high-quality early childhood and school-age programs while creating a welcoming, nurturing environment for children, families and staff. This role oversees daily operations, staff development, program quality, budgeting, licensing compliance and community partnerships.
Qualifications
- Minimum age: 21 (IA)
- Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience; must meet Director licensing requirements
- At least one year of supervisory experience in childcare or education
- Strong leadership, communication and organizational skills
- Ability to work flexible hours, including occasional evenings and weekends
- Successful background check
- Required YMCA certifications and abuse prevention training completed within required timeframes (training provided)
Essential Functions
- Lead the daily operations of childhood education programs
- Recruit, hire, train, coach and supervise staff
- Ensure licensing, safety and YMCA standards are met
- Develop and manage department budgets
- Build relationships with families, schools and community partners
- Evaluate programs, implement improvements and support growth
- Assist with marketing, special events and annual fundraising efforts
- Provide direct program support as needed to maintain ratios
