The Childhood Education Director provides leadership for high-quality early childhood and school-age programs while creating a welcoming, nurturing environment for children, families and staff. This role oversees daily operations, staff development, program quality, budgeting, licensing compliance and community partnerships.

Qualifications

  • Minimum age: 21 (IA)
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience; must meet Director licensing requirements
  • At least one year of supervisory experience in childcare or education
  • Strong leadership, communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including occasional evenings and weekends
  • Successful background check
  • Required YMCA certifications and abuse prevention training completed within required timeframes (training provided)

Essential Functions

  • Lead the daily operations of childhood education programs
  • Recruit, hire, train, coach and supervise staff
  • Ensure licensing, safety and YMCA standards are met
  • Develop and manage department budgets
  • Build relationships with families, schools and community partners
  • Evaluate programs, implement improvements and support growth
  • Assist with marketing, special events and annual fundraising efforts
  • Provide direct program support as needed to maintain ratios
