Central Park Zoo Animal Associate

Location: Central Park Zoo (Tisch Children's Zoo)

Job Type: Temporary/Seasonal

Department: CPZ Animal Department

Status: Non-Exempt

Pay Rate: $17.00/hour

Schedule: Must be able to work 5 days per week including weekends and holidays.

With only a handful of positions each year, these competitive jobs require dedication and some prior experience with animals and animal care. Tisch Children’s Zoo Associate

Essential duties may include:

• Responsible for basic observation of animals, preparation of diets, maintenance and cleaning of exhibits and reporting any problems to a supervisor.
• Daily exhibit preparation, feeding, watering and cleaning/disinfecting of holding areas for collection animals. Assist with record keeping and general upkeep of animal care areas.

Qualification Requirements

Positions require

• Ability to stand for long periods of time
• Ability to lift and/or move 20-50 pounds
• Comfortable being exposed to cold and hot weather conditions
• Good verbal communication skills, and ability to interact with zoo guests
