As a Human Resources Generalist, you'll perform essential human resources functions and provide high-quality customer service to staff at all levels of the organization while maintaining confidentiality.

As a member of the human resources team, you will display problem-solving and research skills, exhibit a high level of verbal and written communication skills, and be a self-starter who is flexible and can work with minimal supervision while multitasking and managing multiple deadlines.

WHAT WE NEED

The HR Generalist provides strategic and operational support across the employee lifecycle by:

  • Serving as the primary HR point of contact for assigned departments, supporting employees and administrators throughout the employee lifecycle.
  • Administering HR operations, including position control, compensation and salary administration, HRIS transactions, payroll coordination, and employment actions.
  • Supporting labor relations through collective bargaining agreement administration, grievance support, contract interpretation, and bargaining preparation.
  • Ensuring compliance with employment laws, Board policies, certification requirements, and organizational procedures while continuously improving HR processes and service delivery.

WHAT YOU NEED

  • Associate's Degree in a related field and a minimum of four years of related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and abilities can be acquired.
  • Experience with labor relations preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships at all levels throughout the organization.
  • Strong project management and organizational skills with excellent attention to detail.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as technical data, organizational policies, employment contracts, and collective bargaining agreements.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.

This position is eligible to participate in the Flexible Work Program, which allows eligible employees to perform their job duties from a designated alternative location up to two days per week.

SALARY DETAILS

$30.60 - $35.50 hourly based on relevant prior work experience, with the potential to earn up to

$38.22 after employment with Oakland Schools. Non-Exempt Position / 12-month work year
