Job Purpose

The Senior Project Engineer will report to the Plant Manager and Head of Engineering and will be responsible for establishing and executing core engineering functions, including project management, utilities management, and maintenance systems and processes.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Support plant operations by completing ongoing engineering projects required for plant start-up and providing technical support during the production season. Ensure strong focus on Safety, Quality/Food Safety, and associated deliverables.
  2. Lead and support maintenance system implementation, specifically the CMMS (MaintainX), by guiding plant coordinators to achieve full system adoption and effectiveness.
  3. Oversee utilities management (Boilers, Air, and Ammonia systems) by reviewing current practices, establishing best practices, and ensuring appropriate checks and controls are in place to maintain system reliability and uptime.
  4. Partner with Operations to identify, prioritize, and implement continuous improvement initiatives through targeted engineering projects.
  5. Support execution of current capital and engineering projects, including defining schedules, deliverables, and ensuring strong alignment with Operations.
  6. Manage project plans and execution by reviewing designs, specifications, and schedule changes. Monitor progress, coordinate activities, proactively resolve issues, and maintain adherence to timelines.
  7. Establish, track, and drive engineering Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) across projects and key initiatives.
  8. Develop and deliver technical and operational training programs focused on critical equipment and engineering processes.
  9. Identify gaps in current processes and systems, provide technical solutions, and perform additional duties that support overall plant engineering and operational excellence.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical / electrical engineering or related field.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in plant maintenance, preferably in food processing or FMCG.
  • In-depth understanding of hygienic design principles, GMP, and sanitation in maintenance.
  • Knowledge of food safety, GMP, HACCP, and ISO 22000 standards.
  • Knowledge of CMMS (MaintainX),Maintenance and Asset Management software
  • Experience in TPM, RCA, and continuous improvement methodologies.
