Are you an experienced Quality Control Inspector with a strong structural steel fabrication background who enjoys being close to the work—not sitting behind a desk?

A leading national engineering, manufacturing, and technology organization is urgently seeking a Source Quality Control Inspector to support a major mission-critical construction program.

This is a highly visible quality position responsible for representing the organization directly at supplier facilities and ensuring fabricated structural steel assemblies meet stringent project requirements before they ever leave the supplier's facility.

What You'll Do:

  • Perform 100% final inspections of completed structural steel assemblies prior to shipment.
  • Conduct in-process sampling inspections throughout fabrication.
  • Inspect dimensions, fit-up, alignment, hole locations, weld quality, and overall workmanship.
  • Confirm assemblies are complete and all required components are installed prior to release.
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings, fabrication/shop drawings, specifications, welding symbols, and bills of material.
  • Review MTRs, material certifications, weld records, and quality documentation.
  • Identify and document nonconformances and verify corrective actions.
  • Monitor recurring defects and communicate quality concerns to project leadership.
  • Maintain inspection records, photographs, approvals, and supporting quality documentation.
  • Partner directly with suppliers and project teams to resolve quality issues.
  • Represent the organization professionally at supplier and project facilities.
  • Travel between supplier/manufacturing and project locations as required.

The two biggest priorities are

1. Quality Inspection Experience

2. Structural Steel Fabrication Experience

Additional qualifications include:

  • 5+ years of quality inspection experience within structural steel fabrication, modular manufacturing, industrial fabrication, or a closely related environment.
  • Strong knowledge of structural steel fabrication, welding, dimensional inspection, material traceability, and quality control practices.
  • Ability to confidently interpret fabrication drawings, engineering specifications and welding symbols.
  • Experience performing final inspection and/or source inspection of fabricated assemblies.
  • Strong documentation and nonconformance reporting skills.
  • Ability to work independently while representing the organization at supplier facilities.

Education: Associate degree in Engineering Technology, Construction Management, Welding Technology, or a related technical discipline preferred. High School Diploma/GED candidates with approximately

7+ years of directly relevant experience will also be considered.

Compensation & Benefits:

  • Up to $120K base salary
  • Bonus potential
  • $300–$600 monthly car allowance
  • Monthly cell phone reimbursement
  • Company-paid business travel
  • Daily per diem provided for travel-related expenses
