Director of Coaching

The Role

MAGIS is hiring a Director of Coaching — the technical and cultural leader of our academy.

Our mission is simple: we empower soccer players to elevate their game, build confidence, and become future leaders of our society. The DOC is the person who makes sure that mission is lived out on the field, in every session, by every coach. Not once in a while. Every time.

You will own player development, coach hiring, retention and training, and the family experience, while helping drive the long-term growth of the academy. Roughly 65% of this role is on the field; 35% is leadership and strategy.

About MAGIS

MAGIS is a personal training academy for competitive soccer players in Memphis, founded in 2018. We run long-term 1-on-1, small-group development programs, camps, and clinics, and we've coached thousands of players since we started.

What you'll Own

Player development

• Design and oversee the MAGIS player development curriculum — technical, tactical, physical, and psychological growth at every age.
• Run sessions at the highest standard and hold every coach's sessions to that same standard.
• Attend players' team games to evaluate development in real competition.

Coach development & management

• Recruit, train, retain, and mentor MAGIS coaches through our structured onboarding and 30/60/90-day review system.
• Run weekly, monthly, and quarterly coach evaluations using our performance scorecard, and give consistent, direct feedback.
• Lead internal coaching education — clinics, mentoring, development plans.

Family experience

• Build real relationships with parents and educate them on the development process.
• Run new-family orientations and be the first point of contact for coach–parent–player conflict resolution.

Academy growth

• Work with the founder on long-term strategy, program expansion, and facility development.
• Represent MAGIS in the Memphis soccer community — partnerships, events, presence.

Whom we're looking for

Must-haves

• USSF D License minimum (C or higher preferred, or actively pursuing).
• 3–5+ years coaching competitive youth soccer.
• Real leadership experience — you've mentored coaches, directed player development, or run programs, not just sessions.
• Elite communication with kids, parents, and staff — including hard conversations.
• Organized and comfortable balancing fieldwork with administrative ownership (video analysis, scheduling systems, development tracking).
• Available weekday evenings and Sundays, year-round.
• Able to pass a background check; valid driver's license.
• The humility to listen and keep learning. Around here, constant growth isn't a slogan — it's a job requirement.

Nice to have: a degree in a sports or business-related field, Spanish, playing experience at the college level or above.

Compensation & What you Get

• $55,000 - $65,000 base salary
