Job Title: Airport Design Engineer

Location: Anchorage, AK

Job Summary

We are seeking a Junior to Mid-Level Airport Design Engineer to join an aviation engineering team in Anchorage, Alaska. The engineer will support the planning, design, and construction of airport facilities and infrastructure across Alaska, including runways, taxiways, aprons, terminals, hangars, deicing facilities, and airfield systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop engineering plans, specifications, and engineer's estimates.
  • Perform airport civil design and drafting using AutoCAD Civil 3D.
  • Design runways, taxiways, aprons, hardstands, grading, drainage, pavement, lighting, and striping.
  • Perform aircraft movement modeling and analysis.
  • Prepare technical reports, studies, feasibility studies, and technical memoranda.
  • Support bidding, permitting, and construction activities.
  • Conduct site visits and observe construction progress.
  • Coordinate with project teams, clients, FAA, and Alaska DOT.
  • Assist with airport planning and aviation studies.
  • Support specialized airport systems, including airfield and apron lighting.
  • Travel to remote Alaska communities as required.
  • Manage project teams based on experience.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
  • 3+ years of airport design experience.
  • Alaska and/or Washington PE license, or ability to obtain within 6 months.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary environment.
  • Willingness to travel to project sites.

Preferred Qualifications

  • AutoCAD Civil 3D experience.
  • AviPLAN and FAARFIELD experience.
  • Knowledge of FAA Advisory Circular standards.
  • Master's degree in Aviation or related field.
  • Experience with airport planning, aviation infrastructure, or FAA projects.
