As a student worker in the Kingston Lab, you will play a crucial role in maintaining our marine invertebrate research facility. This position provides an excellent opportunity to gain practical experience in animal husbandry and contribute to ongoing research projects. You will work closely with our team of scientists and researchers, ensuring the well-being and proper care of our animal subjects.

  • Clean and maintain animal tanks and enclosures, ensuring a clean and healthy environment for the marine invertebrates.
  • Feed and monitor the animals, following specific dietary requirements and feeding schedules.
  • Assist in the collection and recording of data related to animal behavior and health.
  • Help with the setup and maintenance of experimental setups and equipment.
  • Ensure proper waste disposal and adhere to all safety protocols.
  • Assist in the transportation and handling of animals during research procedures.
  • Collaborate with the research team to ensure smooth operation of the facility.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation of animal care activities.
  • Participate in training sessions to enhance your knowledge of animal husbandry practices.
  • Contribute to a positive and safe work environment for all lab personnel.
  • Currently enrolled as a student at the University of Tulsa.
  • Strong interest in marine biology, animal husbandry, or related fields.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Good physical condition, as the role may involve lifting and moving equipment.
  • Basic knowledge of marine invertebrates and their care is preferred.
  • Willingness to learn and adapt to new procedures and protocols.
  • Ability to follow instructions and work with minimal supervision.
  • Strong communication skills for effective collaboration with the research team.
  • A positive attitude and a passion for contributing to scientific research.
