Trust & Estate Tax - HYBRID 2x a month!
CyberCoders
Trust & Estate Tax Specialist (CPA)
If you spend your days in the nuanced world of Form 1041s, grantor trusts, and fiduciary income distribution - and you want a role where that expertise is the core of the job, not a side service - this position was built for you. We are looking for a seasoned CPA to own fiduciary tax compliance and planning for a portfolio of high-net-worth clients, estates, and trusts.
What you'll do
Prepare, review, and file fiduciary tax returns (Form 1041, related schedules, and K-1s) for federal and multi-state jurisdictions, meeting all deadlines and extensions with high accuracy.
Advise executors, trustees, and beneficiaries on the tax consequences of trust and estate administration, translating complex IRC rules into clear, actionable guidance.
Research federal and state tax law developments - including IRS guidance, court cases, and legislative changes - and communicate implications to clients and staff.
Coordinate with estate planning attorneys, financial advisors, and investment managers to gather data and implement tax-efficient strategies tailored to each client's situation.
Prepare fiduciary accounting analyses and client-ready statements supporting tax reporting and ongoing administration.
Supervise and mentor junior tax preparers, reviewing their work and reinforcing quality standards across the team.
Support client development by participating in meetings, drafting proposals, and presenting planning opportunities in plain language.
What you need
Active CPA license.
3+ years of hands-on experience preparing and reviewing fiduciary tax returns, with strong command of Form 1041, K-1s, grantor trust rules, and income distribution principles.
Solid working knowledge of estate tax fundamentals, basis reporting, and relevant IRC sections.
Proven ability to research tax issues using authoritative sources and communicate conclusions clearly in writing and in conversation.
Experience working directly with clients or professional advisors (attorneys, financial planners, or similar).
Nice to have
Experience with individual income tax returns (Form 1040) in the context of trust distributions and beneficiary reporting.
Familiarity with practice management systems and tax preparation software (e.g., Thomson Reuters, CCH, or similar).
Prior experience mentoring or training junior staff in a public accounting or wealth management environment.
Exposure to state-specific fiduciary tax rules across multiple jurisdictions.
Pay
$80,000-$105,000/yr depending on experience
CPA license and CPE reimbursement
