Riverside Contracting, Inc. is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Construction Surveyor / Survey Technician to support field surveying and construction layout activities. This position is ideal for recent graduates or individuals with technical training who are looking to start a career in construction surveying while gaining hands-on experience on active job sites.
Job Type: Full-time
Location: Montana / Wyoming (Project Based)
Reports To: Superintendent / Lead Surveyor
Key Responsibilities
· Perform construction layout and staking on heavy civil construction projects
· Help establish and verify horizontal and vertical control points
· Read and apply information from construction drawings and site plans
· Operate survey equipment such as levels, total stations, and GPS
· Record field data, notes, and measurements in an organized and accurate manner
· Communicate field information to project managers, superintendents, and foremen
· Follow company safety policies and job site safety requirements
· Maintain and care for surveying equipment
Minimum Qualifications
· Associate’s degree in Surveying, Civil Engineering Technology, or equivalent experience
· Strong understanding of surveying principles and construction terminology
· Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications
· Working knowledge of surveying equipment, software, and field procedures
· Strong communication and organizational skills
· Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to project sites
Preferred Qualifications
· Internship or prior experience in construction surveying
· Familiarity with GPS Machine control and modeling software (TBD, Civil 3D)
Working Conditions
· Field-based role with regular exposure to active construction sites
· Work hours may include extended hours, weekends, and travel depending on project needs
· Position may require physical activity (walking, climbing, standing for extended periods, etc.)
