Field Technician Senior

Performs an advanced level of construction and maintenance operating work related to a pipeline system. Perform pipeline construction, installation, maintenance, and removal work on transmission and distribution pipelines.

• Drive and maintain crew truck. Load, unload, and operate tools and equipment including but not limited to:
  • Pipe and crescent wrenches
  • Pipe cutters and threaders
  • Air compressors and generators
  • Plastic fusion irons
  • Jackhammers and concrete saws
  • Mini and large backhoe
  • Combustible Gas Indicators
  • Tapping equipment
  • No blow equipment
  • Forklift
  • Respirators
  • Oxygen analyzer
  • Ultrasound equipment
  • Electro fusion equipment/processor
• Perform routine maintenance on vehicles and equipment.
• Maintain various records including but not limited to:
  • Hours worked
  • Orders completed
  • Mileage reports
  • Accident/first aid reports
  • Leak reports
• Investigate customer related orders and/or emergency situations but not limited to:
  • Low Pressure calls
  • Class 1 Leaks
  • Blowing lines
  • Fires/explosions
  • Undetectable lines
• Regular and reliable attendance is required in performance of job.
• Employee may be required to perform additional duties as assigned.

Education Requirements

None required.

This role typically calls for two to four years of relevant experience; Minimum of one-year relevant experience is required.

Experience

• Experience in use, function, maintenance, and repair of tools and equipment applicable to position.
• Experience in application of basic arithmetic:
  • addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division (tested).
• Experience in construction and maintenance of transmission and/or distribution pipeline systems.
• Experience and training relative to:
  • Working in excavations and/or confined spaces
  • Basic customer service activities
  • Company and governmental operating/safety procedures
  • Fusing plastic pipe
  • Characteristics of natural gas
• Experience in reading and interpreting maps, atlas pages, blueprints, and job orders.
• Experience and knowledge in basic computer functions and relevant software.
• Demonstrated ability to read and write fluently in English.

Licenses and Certifications

CDL Required.

Applicable driver's license.

Qualified Plastic Fusion Technician certification.

Applicable Operator Qualifications.

Additional Requirements

• Lift or move objects weighing up to 20 pounds 10-15 times a day; up to 40 pounds 7-10 times a day; over 50 pounds 10-12 times a day.
• Climb into and out of excavations.
• Travel over uneven terrain including but not limited to:
  • Mud
  • Gravel
  • Sand
  • Rocks
  • Ice
  • Snow
• React immediately to emergency situations to prevent injury to self and others.
• Smell odorant in natural gas.
• Detect and react to warning signals at work sites.
• Able to operate tools and equipment required.
• Communicate and/or exchange information or instructions including use of company two-way radio and/or company cell phones.
• Peripheral vision and accurate depth perception.
• Visual abilities sufficient to perform job duties.
