Barber McMurry seeks an experienced commercial project architect to join our studio. Successful candidates will be passionate about excellence and have demonstrated experience in high-crafted commercial design. Ideal candidates will be self-motivated, have stellar communication skills, and will adore collaboration in a culture that prioritizes curiosity and creative intensity.

Position Responsibilities

Will collaborate with project team on commercial projects at various scales, leading documentation efforts under the guidance of a project manager and Partner-in-Charge, to develop and execute our vision for thoughtful, crafted spaces. Candidate must be comfortable collaborating with a team, working on multiple projects simultaneously, setting priorities, and meeting deadlines & budgets.

• Supports project design & process; guides projects through documentation and detailing
• Supports integration of building systems, construction details & finishes into overall design; coordinates with consultants
• Assist with graphic/digital production of presentations; participate in project meetings
• Actively contribute to internal & external design dialogue

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Architecture
• 2-5 years of experience in high-crafted commercial design
• Proficiency in Revit, Adobe Creative Suite & Microsoft Office
• Ability to sketch, digitally or by hand

Preferred Qualifications

• NCARB or licensed in Tennessee preferred; will consider candidates pursuing licensure
• Sustainable certification (LFA, WELL, LEED) or experience with sustainable design
• Experience with SketchUp, Rhino, VRay, Enscape, etc.
• Experienced in presentations & client interactions
