Western Dairyland EOC, Inc. Fresh Start - Eau Claire County
AmeriCorps
Fresh Start provides young adults with mentorship, practical support, and meaningful opportunities to build the skills needed for greater independence and future success. Program staff serve as positive role models by demonstrating constructive life skills, responsible decision-making, and professional behavior. They mentor participants in essential independent-living skills, including budgeting, renting an apartment, obtaining a driver’s license, and navigating community resources. Staff also help young adults identify and work toward personal, educational, and employment goals while offering encouragement, accountability, and individualized guidance. On community project sites, they support participants in developing teamwork, communication, problem-solving, and workplace-readiness skills. Fresh Start team members actively participate in staff meetings, program activities, and collaborative planning to ensure participants receive consistent and coordinated support. They also strengthen and expand the Fresh Start Volunteer Program by recruiting, training, and providing ongoing support to volunteers. Through mentoring, service, and community partnerships, Fresh Start helps young adults recognize their strengths, overcome barriers, and take meaningful steps toward their goals.
