Tax Director - Family Office

Join an established, integrated family office serving ultra-high-net-worth entrepreneurs and tech-wealth families, where a $190,000-$220,000 base salary, full practice ownership, and direct partnership alignment await a senior tax leader.

What you'll do

  • Own federal, state, and multi-state tax compliance across UHNW individuals, complex partnerships, trusts, and non-profit entities.

  • Design and execute advanced tax strategies including entity structuring, capital-transaction planning, equity compensation (stock options, RSUs, 10b5-1 plans), gift/estate, and foreign income reporting.

  • Serve as the primary client relationship leader for top-tier engagements, translating complex tax concepts into actionable strategy for family principals.

  • Represent clients in all tax controversy matters, managing federal, state, and local audits from notice through final resolution.

  • Partner with cross-disciplinary teams to integrate tax strategies with estate, philanthropic, insurance, and overall wealth planning.

  • Oversee practice operations, including engagement budgeting, workflow management, quarterly billing, and client retainer structuring.

  • Recruit, mentor, and elevate the tax team, building a high-performing leadership pipeline.

What you need

  • 15+ years of tax compliance and advisory experience tailored to UHNW individuals, family groups, complex partnerships, and trusts.

  • Active CPA license or Enrolled Agent (EA) credential.

  • Deep technical expertise in multi-state returns, foreign income disclosures, gift/estate tax, and complex equity compensation.

  • Proven track record leading tax professionals and managing multi-faceted client engagements at a director level.

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

Nice to have

  • Master's in Taxation (MST) or LL.M. in Taxation.

  • Proficiency in CCH Axcess Tax, BNA Income Tax Planner, or Checkpoint RIA.

  • Direct experience inside a single/multi-family office or top-tier wealth management firm.

  • Experience presenting sophisticated tax structures directly to ultra-affluent founders and investors.
