Human Resources Generalist

Amusement Connect

Date: 1 day ago
City: Kansas City, MO
Contract type: Full time

THE ROLE

Amusement Connect is hiring an experienced, hands-on HR Generalist to own the day-to-day HR function for our 43-person company.

This role will be responsible for the practical work that keeps a growing company running well: employee relations, policies and compliance, benefits administration, payroll coordination, recruiting, onboarding, and HR documentation. You’ll report to our Controller and work directly with our benefits broker, outside HR specialists, and company leadership.

This is not a role where everything is already neatly built and documented.

We’re growing quickly, and our HR infrastructure needs to grow with us. There are policies to reconcile, documentation and recordkeeping to tighten, processes to standardize, and systems that need greater discipline and consistency. We want someone who is comfortable taking ownership of that work—not just administering what already exists.

The right person will be practical, organized, responsive, and comfortable operating in a smaller company where priorities move quickly and good judgment matters. You should be equally willing to help an employee work through an issue, clean up a policy, coordinate payroll and benefits, or improve a process that isn’t working as well as it should.

If you like building order, improving how things work, and having meaningful ownership of the HR function rather than being one small part of a large department, this is the kind of role where you can make a real impact.

ABOUT AMUSEMENT CONNECT

Amusement Connect is a Kansas City-based technology company serving the amusement, arcade, family entertainment center, and attractions industries. We design hardware, software, payment systems, mobile engagement tools, and cloud-based platforms that help operators streamline operations, improve the guest experience, and unlock new revenue.

Our customers run parks, FECs, attractions, and arcades. We are private-equity backed and growing, which means real ownership and real pace.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

· Interpret, administer, and uniformly enforce company policies, standard operating procedures, and the Employee Handbook.

· Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws, including FMLA, FLSA, EEO, and ADA.

· Manage employee relations as the first point of contact for staff inquiries, conflict resolution, and internal investigations.

· Support managers through the progressive discipline process and coordinate formal separation procedures.

· Serve as the primary administrative point of contact for external benefits brokers and third-party consultants.

· Manage annual open enrollment, benefit plan renewals, and monthly billing reconciliation.

· Partner with external specialists to resolve escalated benefit claims, leaves of absence, and workers' compensation cases.

· Execute bi-weekly payroll processing, tracking hours, deductions, bonuses, and tax withholdings.

· Audit and reconcile monthly benefits invoices against HRIS records before submission for payment.

· Assist the Controller with light accounting duties including payroll journal entries, expense tracking, and year-end audit document collection.

· Coordinate full-cycle recruitment: job postings, resume screening, and interview scheduling.

· Conduct new-hire orientation and facilitate integration of staff into corporate structures.

· Administer the employee pulse survey process, including distribution, response collection, confidentiality safeguards, and completion tracking.

· Analyze survey results to identify engagement themes, friction points, and morale trends, and prepare findings and recommended actions for leadership.

Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of this role.

WHAT YOU BRING

Equivalent combinations of education, certification, and relevant professional experience may be considered.

· Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Accounting, or a related field.

· 3–5 years of progressive HR experience, with demonstrated exposure to automated payroll systems and general accounting principles.

· Working knowledge of FMLA, FLSA, EEO, and ADA as they apply to a small-to-midsize employer.

· Proficiency with HRIS platforms and Microsoft Excel.

· Demonstrated discretion and sound judgment handling confidential employee information.

· Strong written communication, including the ability to draft policy language a non-specialist can follow.

NICE TO HAVE

· SHRM-CP or PHR certification.

· Experience within a combined Finance and Human Resources department structure.

· Experience in a private-equity-backed or rapidly scaling organization.

· Experience building HR infrastructure — policy libraries, document control, or an HR operating cadence — rather than only maintaining it.

· Experience administering Gusto or a comparable HRIS and payroll platform.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

$63,000 – $78,000 base salary, plus eligibility for an annual bonus of up to 10% of base, for total cash of $69,300 – $85,800. The range reflects the expected compensation for this role; actual offer depends on experience, demonstrated capability, and internal equity.

· Medical, dental, and vision through UnitedHealthcare, with two medical plan designs so you choose your own deductible and coinsurance level

· Company funds 75% of the employee premium and 25% of dependent premiums

· $50,000 company-paid life and AD&D through Principal — no employee cost, no health questions

· 401(k) with match up to 4% of pay, no waiting period

· Two weeks accrued vacation to start, growing to three weeks at three years and four weeks at ten

· 56 hours of paid sick time per year, separate from vacation

· 11 paid holidays
