We are seeking a Senior Estimator with 10-15 years of commercial/industrial construction estimating experience to join us in our success.
Applicants in our core areas of expertise, including healthcare, transportation, industrial, and financial institutions, will be considered a plus, along with proven pre-construction experience with design-build and CMAR delivery methods.
What you’ll do
- Effectively lead project bid teams.
- Provide preconstruction services for design-build / assist projects up to $50,000,000, including estimating of design progress packages, value engineering, constructability reviews, schedule reviews, managing the design/build process, and identifying long lead items.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with owners, developers, owner representatives, designers, subcontractors, and vendors.
- Lead or assist in the Request for Proposal (RFP) and Request for Qualifications (RFP) response processes.
- Review proposal specifications, drawings, attend pre-bid meetings, etc., to determine scope of work and required contents of estimate.
- Develop scopes of work and accurately solicit pricing proposals from subcontractors and vendors.
- Assist bid team during preparation of inquiries and final evaluation of submitted bids as required.
- Prepare conceptual estimates with minimal project information, detailed construction estimates for all types of projects, and estimates for all stages of design from conceptual through final construction documents.
- Assist project management team with project buyout as needed.
- Assist with developing and maintaining estimating software and in the development of historical cost for estimating databases.
- Compile and maintain bid history documents.
- Estimate extra work items, change orders, credits, procuring materials, etc.
- Manage the input of all subcontractor and supplier bids during the bid analysis process.
- Organize bid team so each supporting individual involved knows responsibilities and deadlines.
- Manage estimating support personnel when assigned to the bid team.
- Demonstrate exceptional presentation and sales skills while assisting and serving on RFP/interview teams.
- Perform additional assignments as required.
Skills, Knowledge, Qualifications and Experience:
- 4 year college degree or equivalent combination of technical training and/or related experience
- 10-15 years of experience in commercial/ industrial estimating, cost control, and/or engineering experience (at least 5 years estimating experience) in similar facility construction
- Thorough knowledge of estimating best practices, quantity surveying, construction materials, and construction means and methods
- Ability to develop strategic relationships with subcontractors and suppliers.
- Extensive knowledge of commercial and industrial projects.
- Thorough understanding of competitive bid, negotiated, shortlisted project procurement methods
- Thorough understanding of design-build, construction management, and general construction project delivery methods
- Ability to act as primary estimating lead on projects with minimum oversight.
- Excellent written, verbal communication and presentation skills.
- Analytical skills and mathematical aptitude.
- Experience in using estimating software (Sage), quantity surveying software, building and civil, and bid solicitation software.
- Ability to handle multiple bid projects at the same time.
- Demonstrate ability for accuracy and thoroughness.
- Effective leadership, organizational, and time management skills.
- Team-oriented with the ability to collaborate with other project team members.
